Product Manager

Lacima Group has an opening for a Product Manager. You will be responsible for the deployment and support of our software products, the development, testing and coordination of releases plus the creation of marketing brochures, proposals and contract management. You will achieve this by applying your project management skills, contracting skills and financial knowledge.

You will report to the principals of this small and dynamic Sydney-based company. The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Managing the proposal and contracting process.
  • Software product deployment and support coordination.
  • Software product development and testing coordination.
  • Managing the creation of marketing material.

About you
You will be self-motivated, enjoy the challenge of learning quickly and will not be concerned by a certain degree of ambiguity. You will have a professional approach to the job and your clients both internal and external. You will contribute to Lacima Group’s growing reputation for quality solutions. Your skills You will have at least two years commercial experience in the financial markets and in the management of contracts and proposals. You will be detail oriented and have good experience in managing projects and in the management of software testing and deployment.

Quantitative Development (.NET)

Lacima Group has an opening for the position of a Experienced Quantitative Developer. Working as part of the Research and Development team, you will be responsible for the development and testing of applications, libraries and services. You will achieve this by leveraging Lacima Group’s existing models and technology to deliver leading edge, client-driven solutions for use in the financial, commodity and energy industries. These cover areas such as risk management, pricing models and simulations.

You will report to one of the Principals of this small and dynamic Sydney-based company. The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Development of numerical libraries in C# and C++
  • Creating .NET front-ends for our libraries
  • Reviewing and testing the work of your peers
  • Work in close cooperation with quantitative analysts and researchers
  • Rigorous commitment to testing and documentation as part of the development process
  • Database design and implementation as well as integration with customer’s back end systems
  • Client application deployment and support

About you
A practical approach to application development is required. You have a solid understanding of university level mathematics and a keen interest in financial markets. Your skills
You will have at least two years experience in developing production quality software solutions. Your experience includes team based development as well as single-developer projects. You will have a solid software development background, are able to work independently and have a keen interest to learn.

Specifically:

Demonstrable interest in and understanding of financial markets and quantitative finance

At least 2 years programming experience in a commercial environment using a minimum of 2 modern programming languages

  • .Net programming experience (Windows Forms/C#)
  • Experience in working with databases (SQL, Oracle and Access) and a good understanding of SQL
  • Strong working knowledge of VBA and Excel
  • A relevant degree with a quantitative emphasis

Senior Quantitative VBA Developer - Migrate to .Net

We are looking for an experienced developer who will use his technical expertise to bring quality solutions to market in a timely fashion. The position will be based in our Sydney office.

Job synopsis
Lacima Group has an opening for the position of Senior Quantitative VBA Developer. Working as part of the Research and Development team, you will be primarily responsible for the development, testing and maintenance of our Excel-based applications, tools and services. You will achieve this by leveraging Lacima Group’s existing models and technology to deliver leading edge, client-driven solutions for use in the financial, commodity and energy industries. These cover areas including risk management, derivative pricing models and simulations.

Lacima Group has made a strategic decision to move to the .Net platform for all its applications and libraries. Over time, you are expected to be an important part of this process.

You will report to one of the Senior staff of this small and dynamic Sydney-based company. The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Implementation of quantitative models in Excel
  • Maintenance on our existing spreadsheet-based models
  • Integration of our advanced numerical libraries
  • Reviewing and testing the work of your peers

About you

  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Excel and the Excel Object Model
  • Experience with SQL
  • A relevant quantitative degree with an emphasis onmathematical computing

  • Expertise in a least one scripting language

Senior Financial Engineer

Working as a senior member of our quantitative analysts group, you will be responsible for project managing solutions and the design, development, and implementation of models and computational methods.  You will achieve this by applying your project management and mathematical modelling and analysis skills, building on Lacima Group’s existing models and technologies to deliver leading edge applications for use in the financial, commodity and energy industries.  These cover areas such as risk management, pricing models and numerical techniques.

You will report to one of the Directors of this small and dynamic Sydney-based company. The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Clarifying the project scope and prepare project plans.
  • Review relevant literature and develop a proposed methodology.
  • Work with peers to review and enhance the model
  • Work with Information Technology (IT), if required, to implement and test the methodology.
  • Development of our existing spreadsheet-based models
  • Reviewing and testing the work of your peers

About you

  • You will have a strong academic background in a quantitative area (to PhD level) and a minimum of 5 years working experience in a Risk or Quantitative Analyst position in a Financial, Commodity or Energy environment.
  • You will be able to give demonstrable examples of strong project management skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of VBA and the Microsoft Office object model (primarily Excel)
  • You will be able to work under deadlines and has a high focus on delivery
  • Facility with programming languages (preferably C) is required.
  • You should be exceptionally motivated, and should be able to balance multiple priorities in a time-constrained environment.

  • Building mathematical models that will be used to value and risk manage exotic derivatives and physical assets.
  • Apply Lacima Group’s existing numerical tools to construct valuation and risk management solutions to non-standard problems.
  • Extending Lacima’s existing tool set to take into account recent academic developments
  • Development of our existing spreadsheet-based models
  • Develop and implement testing valuation routines both internally and for our clients.
  • Reviewing and testing the work of your peers.

About you

  • You will have a strong academic background in a quantitative area (at least to MSc level) and a minimum of 2 years working experience in a Risk or Quantitative Analyst position in a Financial, Commodity or Energy environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of VBA and the Microsoft Office object model (primarily Excel)
  • You will be able to work under deadlines and have a high focus on delivery
  • Facility with programming languages (preferably C/C++) is required.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo simulation and numerical analysis (e.g., numerical integration, optimization techniques).
  • You should be exceptionally motivated, and should be able to balance multiple priorities in a time-constrained environment. 
  • You should be oriented towards concrete results, with experience in implementing models, including selection of parameters and calibration.
  • You should be eager to dig into implementation details, as well as conceptual principles.
