E-world Energy & Water 2026 brought together 37,000 energy professionals from across global markets, creating a vibrant forum for discussion, collaboration and insight.
As in previous years, Lacima joined the European Energy Exchange Group (EEX) at their booth, reconnecting with existing clients and engaging with new market participants from across Europe and beyond.
The energy across the exhibition halls reflected an industry navigating rapid transformation while continuing to strengthen its analytical and operational foundations.
Key themes from the event
Battery storage deployment and renewable penetration continue to reshape wholesale price dynamics across power markets, and many conversations centred around the increasing complexity this introduces into portfolio risk management. Delegates we spoke to at the event highlighted:
- Increased volatility driven by fluctuations in renewable generation and evolving supply dynamics
- More complex correlations across power, gas and environmental markets
- Greater difficulty understanding portfolio-wide exposures across physical and financial instruments
- The need to assess hedge effectiveness under stressed and scenario-driven conditions
As portfolios expand to include renewable assets, structured PPAs and increasingly sophisticated hedging products, understanding overall risk distribution, rather than individual position behaviour, is becoming critical.
From discussions the team had with delegates at the event, it was clear there was recognition that siloed analysis is no longer sufficient. Firms are seeking integrated portfolio analytics to quantify exposure, evaluate downside risk and support more confident decision-making under uncertainty.
These conversations align closely with Lacima’s focus on delivering robust analytics, simulation and optimisation frameworks to support portfolio-level risk insight.
Looking Ahead
It was a pleasure exchanging ideas and perspectives with so many practitioners across the industry. We look forward to continuing the conversations at E-world 2027. In the meantime, if these issues resonate with you and you would like to find out more about Lacima’s solutions, contact us.
